Burnley are reportedly interested in signing left-back Dennis Cirkin on a free transfer.
Cirkin is available as a free agent after being released by Sunderland at the end of last season.
The 24-year-old featured nine times for the club in the Premier League last season as he found himself on the fringes following the signing of Reinildo Mandava.
In total, Cirkin scored eight goals in 126 appearances for the Black Cats, with the club progressing from League One to the top-flight during his time on Wearside.
He is now looking for a new club and journalist Alan Nixon has reported that Burnley are interested in pursuing a deal.
It is claimed that German side Schalke are also keen on a deal as they prepare for the new Bundesliga season.
Burnley have recently appointed former Genk boss Nicky Hayen as their new manager after a long process to find Scott Parker's successor.
The Clarets have been installed as one of the favourites for promotion following their relegation from the Premier League last season.
If they are successful in acquiring the services of Cirkin, he is likely to challenge Brazilian Lucas Pires to start at left-back in the upcoming campaign.
