The departure of Ivan Toney left question marks over Brentford's source of goals for the 2024/25 campaign. Those questions have been swiftly answered by Thomas Frank's main man, Bryan Mbeumo.
While there is no doubt over Toney's importance for the Bees since their promotion to the Premier League, Brentford have scored the fifth most goals in the league this season with 13. Almost half of them goals have come through Mbeumo.
The Cameroon international matched his highest scoring season in the Premier League last campaign, with nine goals.
With six goals already scored for his side this season, he is on track to smash that record with ease, as he and Brentford push to improve on last season's underwhelming 16th place finish.
We examine Mbeumo's background, profile and stats in the latest instalment of In Focus.
Aged 25, Bryan Mbeumo was born on 7th August 1999 in Avallon, France.
Bryan Mbeumo is 5ft 7in and has a stocky and muscular build.
Mbeumo is heavily left footed and rarely shoots on his weaker right foot.
Mbeumo's role in the team changes slightly dependant on the formation Frank opts for.
In a 5-3-2 setup, Mbeumo plays in one of the two forward roles, where often the wing-backs provide the width and Mbeumo takes up narrower positions, seeking out goalscoring opportunities.
However, a position which perhaps comes more naturally to Mbeumo is the right wing spot. He often plays this role in a 4-3-3 formation, where he specialises in cutting inside on his left foot and firing goalward.
Mbeumo reads the game well and is excellent at finding space to receive the ball, especially when playing in a more central role.
This, combined with his maturity in possession, means the forward is rarely dispossessed, allowing Brentford to have greater control of the game in the final third.
Mbeumo scored goals inside the first minute this season against Tottenham and West Ham, a spectacular feat which sums up his knack for finding the net.
With Toney moving on in the previous summer transfer window, Mbeumo may be eyeing up the prospect of a big move, with interest expected to be vast given his strong start to the season.
With Mohamed Salah's future at Liverpool uncertain, Mbeumo's name is likely to do the rounds in the coming months, with a move to the Reds potentially on the cards.

Mbeumo is a product of the Troyes academy and began his senior career with the French club, making 41 appearances for the first team.
In this time, he impressed by scoring 11 goals between 2018 and 2019.
He attracted the interest of Championship club Brentford, who signed the player for a club record of £5.8 million.
Since signing, the Cameroonian has made 191 appearances and scored 51 times for the club, averaging a goal every 3.7 games for the Bees.
After netting a stunning volley against West Ham, Mbeumo became the most productive player in Premier League history for Brentford, with 48 goal involvements in 104 top-flight appearances, surpassing Ivan Toney's 47.
Despite representing France at U17, U20 and U21 level, Mbeumo decided to play for his father's nation, Cameroon.
Since making the switch, Mbeumo's record for his nation maybe isn't as strong as he may have liked, having scored four goals in 18 appearances.
However, at just 25 Mbeumo will be given ample opportunity to prove important for his nation and further improve his personal record in front of goal.
I don't feel the pressure of having to replace Ivan Toney. Everyone needs to step up to be the best of themselves on the pitch.

He’s added another layer this year. I’m convinced one day he’ll play for a bigger club. I’d definitely buy him if I were at a bigger club.
