Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes has reportedly turned down Al Hilal's contract proposal.
While reports have been suggesting that Bruno Fernandes could be set for a move to the Saudi Pro League, he has allegedly turned down the prospect and is expected to stay at Manchester United for the foreseeable.
Trusted journalist Fabrizio Romano took to ‘X’ to break the news.
He said: “EXCLUSIVE: Bruno Fernandes has rejected Al Hilal proposal.”
Despite crazy contract proposal from the Saudi Pro League club, Bruno Fernandes wants to continue playing football in Europe. Man United captain wants to play at top level in Europe. Decision made.
With Al Hilal allegedly prepared to pay £100m to secure the services of the Portuguese midfielder, it seemed an offer would have been hard to turn down for a Man Utd side who have recently missed out on UEFA Champions League football for the 2025/26 campaign.
That, paired with the fact that the club have introduced Matheus Cunha and are in talks to sign Bryan Mbeumo, led fans to think that the departure of Fernandes was inevitable.
However, Man Utd’s most consistent performer has opted to remain at the club as he wishes to play at the top level in Europe.
Despite an underwhelming campaign for the Red Devils, recording their worst ever league position in the Premier League, Fernandes was involved in 18 goals.
The additions of Cunha and Mbeumo could however see Ruben Amorim utilise Fernandes in a central midfield role as opposed to a more advanced attacking midfield position.
bet365's Sports and Trading expert Steve Freeth said: "Monday's transfer business was extremely busy with Manchester United at the forefront. The weight of money had us reshaping the markets for both Bruno Fernandes and Bryan Mbeumo making one a favourite to stay and the other to join the Old Trafford club.
"These moves were justified by reports from respected journalists prompting us to pull the plug on both markets."
