An increasing number of British players have made the switch to the Bundesliga in recent years and we've profiled each player currently plying their trade in Germany's top flight.

We've witnessed the likes of Jude Bellingham and Jadon Sancho flaunt their talent on the Bundesliga stage and a number of players from the British Isles have opted to pursue the pathway German football offers onto the professional scene.

We take a look at the players from the UK who are currently playing in the Bundesliga.

Harry Kane (Bayern Munich)

One of the most prolific strikers in world football, Kane has taken his goalscoring exploits to new heights in the Bundesliga.

The England captain became the league's most expensive signing when he joined Bayern Munich for an £82million fee in the summer of 2023 and Kane has justified such an expensive outlay, netting 36 goals in his debut season to clinch the European Golden Shoe.

A major trophy still eludes him, however, with Kane's arrival coinciding with Bayern's first campaign without silverware since 2012.

There's a far more encouraging outlook for the Bavarians this time out and Kane's formidable goal record will be a key component in Bayern retrieving their crown from Bayer Leverkusen.

Jamie Gittens (Borussia Dortmund)

Gittens rose through the academy ranks at Reading and Manchester City before joining Borussia Dortmund's youth setup aged 16.

Despite enduring several injury setbacks, the fleet-footed winger broke into the first team within two years of moving to the North Rhine-Westphalia. Having been accustomed to a bit-part role at the Westfalenstadion, Gittens is now an integral member of Dortmund's attack.

Operating off the left flank under Nuri Sahin, Gittens matched his goal tally from the previous two seasons by the end of October in the 2024/25 campaign and the winger is a menacing figure for opposition full-backs with his electrifying pace and nimble footwork.

Eric Dier (Bayern Munich)

Falling out of favour under Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham, Bayern Munich brought Dier's 10-year stay in North London to an end in January 2024 by acquiring the versatile defender on a loan deal with the view to a permanent contract.

There was great scepticism around the move - many social media critics suggested Dier was signed merely to keep his former Tottenham colleague Kane entertained - but Dier revived his career in Munich with a catalogue of standout performances and earned a one-year deal.

A mainstay in Thomas Tuchel's defence, Dier has found opportunities less frequent under the current Bayern boss, Vincent Kompany.

Oladapo Afolayan (FC St. Pauli)

Afolayan's career path is a fascinating one, not least because he completed a civil engineering degree at Loughborough University whilst trying to climb onto the professional football ladder.

Going from Solihull Moors to West Ham to Bolton, Afolyana made the bold decision to depart the Trotters in January 2023 and join 2.Bundesliga outfit St. Pauli, who were under the stewardship of a novice manager named Fabian Hurzeler.

Afolayan's arrival coincided with St. Pauli embarking on a steep upward trajectory under Hurzeler and the forward was a pivotal figure in the club's title success last season, scoring nine goals and registering three assists.

Though Hurzeler has since departed for the Premier League, Afolayan continues to flourish under Alexander Blessin and the 27-year-old will be aiming to help preserve St. Pauli's Bundesliga status beyond the 2024/25 campaign.

Reece Oxford (Augsburg)

Yes, you're correct - this is the Reece Oxford who was named Man of the Match on his Premier League debut in West Ham's 2-0 win over Arsenal on the opening day of the 2015/16 season.

Those of a claret and blue persuasion believed Oxford was destined for greatness after bursting onto the scene aged 16 and yet nine years on from making his Premier League bow, his career hasn't panned out how many first anticipated.

After sampling the Bundesliga with a loan spell at Borussia Monchengladbach, Oxford moved permanently to Augsburg in 2019 and had become an increasingly influential figure at the WWK Arena until injuries struck.

A series of muscular issues have prevented him from making a first-team appearance since November 2022 and it's unknown as to when Oxford is expected to return.

Scott Banks (FC St. Pauli)

Hailing from Lithlingow and rising through the ranks at Dundee United, Banks is the latest tartan export to embrace the challenge of the Bundesliga.

The winger spent the 2023/24 season on loan at St. Pauli, though his progress at the Hamburg club was derailed after sustaining an anterior cruciate ligament injury in September.

Banks made a timely return for St. Pauli's final match of the campaign and impacted proceedings immediately from the bench, setting up the winning goal that clinched the 2.Bundesliga title. Despite his lengthy injury lay-off, senior figures at the Millerntor were significantly impressed and Banks was signed from Crystal Palace for a £400,000 fee in the summer.

Blessed with pace and agility, Banks is capable of operating on either flank, though he prefers to cut inside onto his favoured left foot.

Oliver Burke (Werder Bremen)

Once dubbed the 'Scottish Gareth Bale' and the subject of transfers worth £28million to RB Leipzig and West Brom, it's fair to say Burke's career has flattered to deceive.

The forward joined Werder Bremen on a free transfer from Sheffield United in 2022 and spent the previous two seasons on loan at Millwall and Birmingham City.

Burke returned to Bremen in the summer and was frozen out at the Weserstadion, though no exit materialised by the conclusion of the summer transfer window.

Used sparingly by Ole Werner, Burke scored his first competitive goal in 551 days when he netted a sublime winner against Holstein Kiel in early November.

Fin Stevens (FC St. Pauli)

Stevens was purchased from Brentford in the summer after the right-back enjoyed a productive loan stint at Oxford United, helping the U's to achieve promotion from League One.

Originally on the books at Arsenal, Stevens was released at 16 but opted to take the plunge into non-league football with Worthing, where his performances merited the attention of Brentford.

A dynamic full-back who is capable of operating on either flank, Stevens made his first two full international appearances for Wales in June 2024 against Gibraltar and Slovakia.
