Elliot Daly has been sent for an X-ray after sustaining a forearm injury during the British and Irish Lions’ 52-12 victory against the Queensland Reds.
The versatile back, who was making his 11th consecutive Lions appearance, suffered the issue after missing a tackle during the second half of the contest in Brisbane.
Despite attempting to continue, Daly was left in visible discomfort and subsequently seen grimacing on the Lions bench as medical staff heavily strapped his left arm before applying ice.
It's a potentially significant blow for Lions head coach Andy Farrell after Daly had been drafted in late to start in place of Hugo Keenan at full-back and the 32-year-old had been one of the standout players on the tour so far.
“He’s pretty sore in there,” Farrell told Sky Sports. “We’ll get him an X-ray. It looks like he’s took a knock to his forearm, so fingers crossed for him.”
There was also concern for Finn Russell in the aftermath of the Lions' success over Queensland as the Scottish fly-half was seen nursing a wrist injury sustained following a heavy collision, although it is believed to only be precautionary.
Daly's withdrawal enabled the Lions to experiment with their backline options as Tommy Freeman moved to full-back and Garry Ringrose was introduced out wide.
After winning the Top 14 title with Toulouse, Blair Kinghorn is now in line to feature at full-back for the match against the Waratahs on Saturday and Farrell will be hopeful that Keenan makes a recovery from the illness that ruled him out of the Queensland clash.
Marcus Smith is another viable option for the Lions to utilise at full-back while awaiting the full extent of Daly's injury.
