Three Brentford players Tottenham Hotspur could sign following Thomas Frank appointment

Thomas Frank's arrival at Tottenham Hotspur from Brentford naturally prompts questions as to which players from his former club may join him in his new venture.

Frank was appointed Tottenham's new head coach on a three-year deal following the departure of Ange Postecoglou last week.

The Danish tactician has received a wealth of plaudits for his managerial career so far after guiding Brentford into the Premier League before establishing the Bees as top-flight regulars.

Player development is a key facet in Frank's repertoire and a catalogue of individuals have flourished under his tutelage at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Some of them may be interested in following their former coach to Tottenham, and we've looked at three players Spurs could sign following Frank's appointment.

Premier League 2025/26

Mikkel Damsgaard

Purchased from Sampdoria in 2022 for a €15m fee, Mikkel Damsgaard enjoyed his most productive season to date last term as he registered 10 Premier League assists.

An inventive and sophisticated playmaker, the Denmark international flourished with the responsibility of unlocking opposition defences in the No.10 role under Frank.

It's not just on the ball where he's impressive, either. A series of fitness issues suggested Damsgaard's incessant work rate may have been detrimental in the past, but after a season in which the midfielder remained injury-free, his relentless energy was a vital component in enabling Brentford's high press to function effectively.

Damsgaard loves to hound opponents into a mistake and creating something from it.

The only issue for any club pursuing Damsgaard is his potential asking price. The Dane signed a five-year contract extension at the start of the year and reports have suggested Brentford will not be willing to entertain any offers below £45m for the 24-year-old.

Nathan Collins

Brentford's record signing joined the club from Wolves for £23m in 2023, Nathan Collins endured a difficult first season with the Bees but the experience he gained was invaluable in his development.

The centre-back stepped to the fore in the 2024/25 campaign and was statistically one of the best defenders in the division as he became the only outfield player in the Premier League to play every minute of the season.

Physically imposing and aerially dominant, Collins possesses the ball-playing qualities which would make him an ideal fit at the heart of Frank's defence, especially if Cristian Romero is to depart.

Should Romero remain, the Stoke City academy graduate presents Frank with the option of altering to a defensive three alongside Micky van de Ven, which would enable Pedro Porro to operate in a more suited wing-back role.

Bryan Mbeumo

A catalogue of clubs have their sights set on the acquisition of Bryan Mbeumo and despite reports that Manchester United are the frontrunners, Frank's switch could turn the tide in Tottenham's favour.

Mbeumo joined an exclusive list of African footballers to score 20+ goals in a single Premier League season and the talismanic Brentford forward appears ready for the next step in his career.

With rumours of Son Heung-min's possible departure, Tottenham will be assessing attacking reinforcements and Mbeumo's clinical finishing and incisiveness would be a huge asset to Spurs' attack.

However, his capture would come at a premium after it emerged that Brentford rejected Manchester United's opening bid of £55m for the 25-year-old.
