Brendan Rodgers' most used players by appearances as Liverpool manager

We take a look at Brendan Rodgers' most used players during his spell as Liverpool manager.

Premier League

• Jordan Henderson (140)

Former Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson played 140 times for the Reds under Brendan Rodgers, eventually being handed the captain's armband after Steven Gerrard's departure in 2015.

Despite the England international topping the list, he was in fact told by Rodgers in August 2012 that he was attracting the interest of Fulham and a transfer would be feasible. Henderson rejected the offer and fought for a regular place in Liverpool's starting XI.

• Martin Skrtel (129)

Martin Skrtel joined the reds from Zenit Saint Petersburg as a relatively unknown entity in English football, signing for £6.5m in 2008.

Skrtel played at the heart of Liverpool's defence for a number of years, but the 2011/12 League Cup was the only silverware that the central defender would earn, coming close to a Premier League title under Rodgers in 2013/14.

• Steven Gerrard (126)

Arguably the greatest midfielder to grace the Premier League, Steven Gerrard played 126 times under Rodgers, before concluding his career in America for LA Galaxy.

Despite playing his latter years in a red shirt under Rodgers, he was still a regular amongst the goals and assists, involved in 63 goals in this period.

• Raheem Sterling (126)

While the name Raheem Sterling might not be too popular amongst Liverpool fans today, he was once an exciting prospect for the Reds, signed by Rafael Benitez in 2010.

His time under Rodgers was turbulent to say the least, falling out with his manager on a few occasions. Nonetheless, he played an important part in Liverpool's pursuit of the title in 2013/14, despite the Reds falling short.

• Philippe Coutinho (112)

Philippe Coutinho is undoubtedly one of the Reds' most talented footballers in recent times, signed by Rodgers in January 2013 for £8.5m.

Liverpool received over 10 times this fee when selling the Brazilian to Barcelona for an initial £105m in 2018.

• Simon Mignolet (104)

Simon Mignolet was signed by Liverpool a year after Rodgers' arrival, making am emphatic start to his Reds career when saving a penalty in a 1-0 win over Stoke City on his debut.

As is the case with most goalkeepers in the modern game, the Belgian came under scrutiny throughout his time at Anfield, but ultimately served dependably during his six years at the club.

• Glen Johnson (101)

Liverpool were the fifth English club that Glen Johnson represented, joining from Portsmouth in 2009.

He played 101 times under Rodgers for the Reds, scoring three goals and assisting seven times.

• Joe Allen (99)

Joe Allen's reliability is proven by the fact that he is still a regular in the Swansea squad aged 35. The Welshman was Rodgers' second signing as Liverpool manager, joining from Swansea for £15m in August 2012.

• Lucas Leiva (98)

Lucas Leiva left the Reds as a fan favourite, not for his flashy ability, but for the fact he worked tirelessly every time he stepped on the pitch for Liverpool.

The Brazilian defensive midfielder was just two games away from breaking the 100 appearance mark under Rodgers, featuring 98 times under the manager.

• Luis Suarez (81)

One of the greatest centre forwards of this generation, 81 of Luis Suarez's 133 games for the Reds came under Rodgers.

The Uruguayan's 2013/14 campaign remains one of the most impressive individual seasons we have seen in the Premier League, finding the net on 31 occasions and assisting 13 times.
