bet365's boxing expert Rob Tebbutt provides his betting insights ahead of a bumper heavyweight clash between Zhilei Zhang and Agit Kabayel in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Zhilei Zhang and Agit Kabayel meet for the WBC Interim heavyweight title on the Beterbiev vs Bivol II undercard on Saturday night.
The bout pits two legitimate top 10 heavyweights against one another in an intriguing clash of styles.
Zhang, arguably the biggest single-shot puncher in the heavyweight division, is coming off a career-best TKO win over Deontay Wilder and is one of the most dangerous fighters in the sport.
The problem for Zhang is his gas tank, he slows dramatically after three or four rounds, as we saw in his loss to Joseph Parker, and he gives up rounds based on his lack of activity.
Kabayel, on the other hand, has emerged as one of the dark horses of the division with underdog stoppage wins over previously-unbeaten pair Arslanbek Makhmudov and Frank Sanchez. He is compact, technically proficient and, perhaps crucially in this fight, a dedicated body-puncher.
The early rounds here are fraught with danger for Kabayel, he was rocked and in big trouble against another southpaw, Aaron Smackici, and the German will have to be very switched on to avoid ‘Big Bang’ and his monstrous left hand.
I think if Kabayel can stay safe in the opening exchanges, while also looking to work the body of Zhang when the opportunities present themselves, this is a fight that, after six rounds, is his to lose.
However, it is a big ‘if’ — as Zhang’s chilling highlight reel will attest to.
