Tyson Fury is prone to changing his mind when it comes to retirement from professional boxing, but it’s yet to be seen as to whether he will make a sensational return to the ring in 2025.
A second successive defeat to the formidable Oleksandr Usyk has seemingly put the final nail in the coffin for Fury, and many believe that the former world heavyweight champion is retired for good.
That said, rumours persist regarding what would arguably be one of the biggest fights in British boxing history, Anthony Joshua v Tyson Fury.
It’s believed that Joshua too is in his final years of professional boxing, so if a fight between the pair is to happen, you’d imagine it would have to happen soon.
Anthony Joshua’s promoter, and chairman of Matchroom Boxing, Eddie Hearn has remained vocal on the situation.
When questioned on the likelihood of ‘Joshua v Fury’ by Boxing UK, Hearn said: “The positive news is he looks really well.
He looks like someone who could start a camp and be ready in 10 weeks.
“He looks great and I’ve said before I don’t think this is a fight that gets made by Frank Warren phoning me up or me speaking to Spencer Brown or whatever. I think they just speak to each other.
“I think that they’re that experienced and such big names that it might just be a ‘Listen do you fancy this, shall we do this?’"
Hearn was quick to reinforce the fact that the initial approach for the all-British heavyweight bout “would have to come from Tyson Fury.”
A charismatic individual with a compelling sense of humour, Fury took to social media to supposedly tease boxing fans of a return.
Whether the video of the Gypsy King punching the bags was a cryptic way of announcing return or not, it certainly excited boxing fans around the world.
