Sunny Edwards v Adrian Curiel: Fight date, ring walk time, undercard, how to watch & betting odds

Former IBF flyweight champion Sunny Edwards starts his climb back to the top in June when he takes on Adrian Curiel in Arizona.

It will be the second time the Englishman has been in action in the USA after he was beaten by Jesse Rodriguez in Glendale in December.

Mexican Curiel moves up from junior flyweight for the fight and has plenty to prove himself having lost to South African Sivenathi Nontshinga in February, so it should be a cracking bout.

Sunny Edwards record

20-1 (4 KOs)

Sunny Edwards is looking to bounce back from the first defeat of his career to Jesse Rodriguez following 20 straight wins in a professional career that started in 2016.

The 28-year-old from Sutton captured the IBF world flyweight title in 2021 when he beat Moruti Mthalane, who had previously won 13 world-title fights, in their meeting at Bethnal Green’s York Hall.

Edwards took a unanimous decision that night and then made five successful defences where he got the nod from all the judges on each occasion.

He was retired at the end of the ninth round against Jesse Rodriguez on his US debut in December, which also took place in Arizona at Glendale, and Edwards will see this fight as the first step to getting back to the top.

Adrian Curiel record

24-5-1 (5 KOs)

Mexican Adrian Curiel started his professional career at the age of 17 and climbed the ranks of the light-flyweight division.

His finest hour came in November last year when he took the IBF light-flyweight title by knocking out Sivenathi Nantshinga in the second round of their bout in Monte Carlo.

However, the South African gained his revenge in their February rematch in Mexico, when he won by a 10th-round technical knockout, which was Curiel’s fifth defeat in a 30-fight career.

He makes the step up to flyweight to take on Edwards in Arizona at the end of June.
