Pierce O'Leary defends his IBO super lightweight world title on Saturday night in his hometown of Dublin against Mark Chamberlain in a rearranged bout and we’ve got two tips for the main event.

Pierce O'Leary and Mark Chamberlain were originally set to clash in March but the latter was forced to withdraw due to a chest infection.
Maxi Hughes stepped in as a late replacement and O’Leary blew him away inside five rounds as Hughes’ corner pulled their man out of the fight, before this bout was rescheduled.
Chamberlain’s withdrawal from the first fight has become a bit of a bone of contention in the build-up to Saturday’s contest as O’Leary has aimed a few verbal jabs in his opponent’s direction over the last few days.
The Irishman has a perfect 19-0 record and is defending his IBO world title. Chamberlain is 17-1-1 and a victory for either man on Saturday would move them a lot closer to challenging for one of the four major belts, but both seem fully focused on the task in hand ahead of what looks an intriguing match-up.
O’Leary is a fighter who likes to stay close to his opponents and overwhelm them with pressure, while Chamberlain isn’t afraid to fight fire with fire and this could turn into an all action affair quite quickly.
The home fighter is coming into the bout on the back of what is arguably his career-best performance, despite the fact Hughes was a replacement fighter coming up in weight.
Hughes has wins over Kid Galahad and Ryan Walsh on his record - and gave an excellent account of himself in a defeat to George Kambosos Jr where he was perhaps unlucky not to have his hand raised.
The fact that Big Bang dismantled Hughes inside five rounds suggests he is capable of operating at the highest level but Chamberlain is a man who has come close to the top table before.
The Portsmouth southpaw was tipped for a world title shot after impressive stoppage wins over Gavin Gwynne and then Joshua Oluwaseun Wahab on big cards in Saudi Arabia but defeat to Josh Padley on the undercard of Anthony Joshua vs Daniel Dubois saw his rise falter.
In hindsight, that blemish on his record doesn’t look too bad considering Padley went on to face Shakur Stevenson and has since claimed a European belt but Chamberlain has struggled to build momentum since.
Thunder has been out of the ring for almost a year since his last assignment, a high-quality draw with the unbeaten Jack Rafferty, but there shouldn’t be any major concerns regarding his conditioning.
O’Leary is the man in form and has home advantage in his favour. The Irishman comes into Saturday’s bout as the 2/5 favourite, while Chamberlain is the 7/4 underdog.

Both O’Leary and Chamberlain are fighters who like to push forward and fight on the front foot, so there is a reasonable chance this fight comes to an early conclusion.
Chamberlain is a fighter with a high boxing IQ and is comfortable boxing at range but he’s also an explosive southpaw and tends to be happy to be drawn into a brawl, so O’Leary’s aggressive approach could be the deciding factor in how this fight plays out.
Big Bang is a front foot fighter with genuine method in his pressure, he can unleash devastating body shots and is a fantastic finisher when he senses that an opponent is hurt.
The fact that neither fighter has ever been stopped means that this bout is odds-on to go the full distance at 4/9, but due to the stylistic match-up we should see plenty of action and there is a good chance the judges won’t be required at the 3Arena. An alternative option is simply backing one or more knockdown at 1/1 rather than a stoppage for either fighter.
Chamberlain is perhaps overpriced at 7/4 to win and this match-up does look far closer than the prices suggest, but O’Leary is still a deserved favourite and the best way to back the home fighter to get a win over the line looks to be via a stoppage.
O’Leary’s work to the body could open up a path towards a stoppage and he is the man with momentum, and a partisan home crowd, behind him. Chamberlain is an incredibly durable fighter but he has been knocked down previously and O’Leary’s pressure and precision give him a crucial edge in what should be a closely fought contest while it lasts.
