Recalling a sparring session between his son Conor and Canelo Alvarez's upcoming opponent Scull in an interview with iFL TV, Nigel Benn said:

Come to round six and seven and he [Scull] started feeling the pace, then around eight Conor put it on him. What did he do? Stop sparring.

Cuban Scull will take on pound-for-pound star Canelo Alvarez in an undisputed super-middleweight showdown in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on Saturday 3rd May 2025,

Conor Benn based his training camp for his eagerly anticipated fight against Chris Eubank Jr in Palma, Mallorca, where he was put through his paces by trainer Tony Sims along with his father Nigel.

A world champion at both middleweight and super-middleweight during his own storied boxing career, Nigel Benn waxed lyrical about his son's training exploits ahead of the Eubank Jr bout:

"[Conor] was sparring with light heavyweights, no problem," Nigel Benn said.

The closeness between Conor and Nigel Benn stands in stark contrast to the estranged Chris Eubank Jr and his father Chris Eubank Sr, who are at loggerheads about the upcoming fight.

Although the meeting of Conor Benn and Chris Eubank Jr has been dubbed a 'legacy fight' continuing on the famous family feud sparked by their fathers in two epic middleweight contests in the early-1990s, Eubank Sr has stated that he wants no part to play in the event scheduled to take place on 26th April.

Eubank Sr is unhappy at his son being forced to move down in weight to make a limit of 160 lbs to face Benn, telling iFL TV: "If I go along with what they're doing, if I'm in my son's corner, then I'm an accomplice to the foolishness."
