Martin Bakole seemingly has one eye on a potential rematch with Joseph Parker, but he will have to get past the highly rated Efe Ajagba first and foremost.
Having reportedly enjoyed success during sparring sessions with Anthony Joshua, Tyson Fury, Oleksandr Usyk and Daniel Dubois, it’s no surprise to see Martin Bakole’s name thrown amongst the most dangerous in the heavyweight division.
His next challenge stands in the form of fellow African fighter Efe Ajagba, and the comprehensive feeling is that Bakole will prove too much in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Bakole stepped in as a short-notice replacement to fight Joseph Parker back in February, displaying great courage despite losing via TKO in round two.
When speaking to iFL TV, the Congolese fighter appeared to think that he warrants a rematch with Parker.
“I deserve it,” he said when questioned on the possibility of a rematch.
“I was thinking maybe Usyk is going to face Parker but as soon as I saw the face-off between Daniel Dubois and Usyk, I thought Parker doesn’t have anyone to fight right now.”
“Let’s keep quiet I don’t want to mention that right now, I’m just waiting to win the (Ajagba) fight and after winning the fight then I’ll ask excellency (Turki Al-Sheikh) in the ring, before everyone, the public, the cameras.
They (the fans) want to see the real Martin Bakole with a full camp against a Joseph Parker with the full camp.
“I don’t know if Joseph Parker will be ready for that but he owes me. I saved his last shot, I saved his last camp, I saved him because if I didn’t say yes that day I don’t know if he was going to fight.”
Parker landed an emphatic knockout in the first fight between the pair, but how much of a difference would a full camp for Bakole have made?
Should Bakole get a second change against Parker, he suggested: “Everyone knows what will happen,” indicating that he believes he will get his revenge.
