Jarrell Miller out of Fabio Wardley fight with injury

Jarrell Miller has been forced to pull out of his scheduled fight against Fabio Wardley at Portman Road due to a shoulder injury.

A statement released by Wardley's promotional company Queensberry said:

Due to a shoulder injury sustained during training camp, Jarrell Miller has had to withdraw from his scheduled bout with Fabio Wardley at Portman Road on June 7.

Efforts are now being made to organise a replacement fighter to step in and fight Wardley at his dream venue of the home of his boyhood football club Ipswich Town at Portman Road.

His representatives at Queensberry said: "We are currently speaking to all relevant parties regarding the situation and expect to have a replacement opponent announced within the next 48 hours."

Filip Hrgovic, Justis Huni and Michael Hunter are believed to be in the running to replace the injured Miller for the 7th June date against Wardley.

A meeting with Hrgovic has been most strongly mooted, with the Croatian currently three places above Wardley in The Ring Magazine's heavyweight rankings in sixth.

The winner of this fight is set for a shot at the WBA 'regular' heavyweight belt which is currently held by Bulgarian Kubrat Pulev.

30-year-old Wardley is on a fast upward trajectory in the heavyweight ranks, with his vicious first round knockout against domestic rival Frazer Clarke in his last outing in October 2024 rendering the Brit as one of the most dangerous boxers in the division at present.

Emerging from a white-collar boxing background, Wardley has been on a tear in the professional ranks with his victory against Clarke seeing him retain the British, Commonwealth and WBA Continental heavyweight titles.

Wardley boasts a professional boxing record of 18-0-1, with his sole draw coming in his initial bout against compatriot Clarke in March of last year.
