Just days away from Conor Benn's clash all-important clash with Chris Eubank Jr, he has revealed that he requested an 18-foot ring for the fight.
A legacy-defining fight is set to take place at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday 26th April, with Benn and Eubank Jr following in the footsteps of Nigel Benn and Chris Eubank Sr.
Usual rules apply for the all-British showdown – 12 rounds and three minutes per round.
Benn has however revealed the one term that he has requested in the contract.
When speaking to Sky Sports, Benn said:
The only thing I asked for in my contract was an 18-foot ring.
"Coming in there to steamroll him? Of course I am. You think I'm coming in there to muck about? That’s just how I am.
"If you think you're faster than me, prove it. You think you're stronger than me, prove it. You think you're smarter than me, prove it. Come meet me in the middle."
Opting for the 18-foot ring suggests that Benn is expecting to trade toe-to-toe with Eubank Jr, as opposed to allowing him space to construct an attack.
Benn’s promoter and CEO of Matchroom Boxing Eddie Hearn has had his say on how he thinks the 18-foot ring could have an impact.
It'll be a nice small ring to have a tear-up in. It might suit Eubank. He may decide to stand and have a shootout.
Despite suggesting how a smaller ring may suit Eubank, Hearn added: "Conor can box, by the way, he's got great legs and his movement is very good. It's not like he just comes forward.
"That's the thing that I think will give Eubank fits, is Conor's movement, the way he dips down, comes in."
Hearn further suggested that the fight could be "all over in three rounds" if the pair do decide to stand and trade punches in the smaller ring.
