Chris Billam-Smith is aiming to put himself back in contention for a world title ahead of his cruiserweight clash with Brendan Glanton on Saturday 26th April.
Previously holding the WBO cruiserweight belt, Billam-Smith lost on his most recent outing in a unification bout against Mexican Gilberto Ramirez in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia in November 2024.
At 34 years old, Billam-Smith is aware time is not on his side as he attempts to bounce back from his loss to Ramirez, telling BBC Sport:
Every fight is a must win now, there is no rebuilding and I can't afford to not win, for me it's about this next fight and then getting what I want out of the sport.
Billam-Smith will take on Glanton, who has an identical professional record of 20-2, on the undercard of Chris Eubank Jr v Conor Benn at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Glanton's last outing saw him knock out Russian Aleksei Egorov in the 11th round of their cruiserweight contest in June 2024.
Billam-Smith is currently fourth in the WBC cruiserweight rankings, one place above Glanton, with the Brit hoping a victory over his American counterpart could put him back in the running for a world title shot.
"If I can get one of the other belts like the WBC title then maybe we can get the rematch with Zurdo [Ramirez] on, I'd love that," Billam-Smith said.
"At the moment, Jai Opetaia and Ramirez are on a collision course so that leaves Badou Jack, we'll see," he added.
'The Gentleman' has only lost on two occasions in his professional career - against domestic rival Richard Riakporhe in 2019 and Mexican Ramirez in November last year.
