Canelo is the headline act on the weekend of Mexican Independence Day and the Guadalajara native is looking to make another successful title defence against the undefeated Berlanga.

17 of the Puerto Rican's professional fights have gone the way of knockout and Berlanga made it clear ahead of the bout that he intends to win in six rounds on Saturday night.

Canelo, inevitably, laughed off the claim.

“Saturday night is going to be very difficult for him for sure," the Mexican stated. "I’ve prepared for the knockout. I love the feeling of a knockout and I’m going to do my best to get it done.”

Canelo is the overwhelming favourite to prevail at odds of 1/22 and if the prospect of trying to overcome one of the greatest fighters of this century wasn't already daunting enough, Berlanga will have to contend with a partisan crowd inside the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

After initially exploding onto the scene with a flurry of knockouts, five of Berlanga's previous six fights have gone the distance. It's a similar trend for Canelo, who bounced back from his defeat to Dmitry Bivol with four wins by unanimous decision.

Those expecting this fight to go all the way can get odds of 12/5 for the bout to go the distance.
