Ashley Lane can count himself as a bit of a veteran in the ring, with the 33-year-old having already faced 30 bouts prior to this meeting with Andrew Cain.
“Flash” had a rocky start to his professional boxing career with just two wins from his first six fights, debuting with a split decision draw against Ryan McNicol back in 2011.
However, Lane looks to have turned a corner since defeating Thomas Kindon on points in Leeds in 2017, with 11 wins from his last 13 bouts - including inflicting a first professional defeat for Jordan Purkiss in their meeting in Brentwood in June of last year.
Lane claimed the vacant BBBofC British Bantamweight title with a technical knockout of Chris Bourke in his last bout - only his third ever win via knockout in his career alongside Purkiss and James Ancliff.
11-1 (10 KOs)
Challenger Andrew Cain comes into this bout with plenty of hype, with the 27-year-old Liverpudlian losing just one of his 12 professional bouts to date - coming via split decision against Ionut Baluta in Telford in March 2023, despite registering more knockdowns than his Romanian counterpart.
Cain has won 10 of his 11 fights via knockout - the only survivor being Stephen Jackson who lost via points in 2021 - and he has shown impressive dominance in his fights since his debut win over Patrik Bartos in his home city of Liverpool in 2015.
Despite 12 bouts to his name Cain only has 39 rounds to his name, averaging just over three rounds per fight which highlights how quick he usually starts when the first bell rings.
At 1/16, he is the heavy favourite to claim the title and, after showing ruthless combinations in his knockout win over Darwing Martinez in his last fight in April, it is not hard to see why he is tipped for a bright future in the sport.
Reigning champion Ashley Lane is 9/1 to retain his bantamweight title, while challenger Andrew Cain is the overwhelming favourite to claim victory at 1/16.
