Essendon will have to check on the fitness of Zach Merrett and Nik Cox who both picked up ankle injuries in the loss to the Brisbane Lions on Saturday.
The Bombers are priced at 25/1 to win the AFL grand final this season but they have not got the campaign off to the best of starts.
Essendon suffered a 22-point defeat against the Lions on home soil and just to make matters worse both Cox and Merrett had to leave the field late in the game.
Coach Ben Rutten is now waiting to discover the full extent of the damage but is sounds as though the injury to Cox could be the more serious of the two.
"Coxy's had a reasonably solid rolled ankle. Just a standard rolled ankle at this stage," Rutten told reporters after the game. "Zach's an ankle as well but I think more at the minor end of it at this stage but that's the information I've got at the moment."
Meanwhile Rutten played down concerns over their 0-2 start to the season and says the Bombers will start to get results if they stick to their principles.
They improved on the performance they put in against Geelong the week before and Rutten refused to be downbeat.
"If we just keep showing up and continuing to play our way, continuing to look for opportunities to keep growing and improving our game, that's going to be the main thing for us,” he added.
"Playing two really good teams in the first two weeks and again, Melbourne next week, we're getting some really good information on our game."
