Blackburn Rovers are looking to tie down midfielder Kristi Montgomery to a long-term contract.
Montgomery is a graduate of the Blackburn academy and is highly-regarded at the club.
The Scotland Under-21 international had been largely on the periphery of the Blackburn squad prior to last season.
He enjoyed loan spells at National League North outfits Marine and Chorley in the 2024/25 season and returned to Ewood Park last summer.
The midfielder had somewhat of a breakthrough campaign for Blackburn last season as he made 22 appearances for the club.
The club agreed a one-year extension to Montgomery's existing contract in May but they are now looking to enter negotiations once again.
Football Insider have reported that Blackburn are in talks over a new deal following interest in Montgomery from a number of different clubs.
New manager Tony Mowbray is keen to work with the player next season and it is understood that Montgomery is more than happy with life at Blackburn.
The club were embroiled in a relegation battle for large parts of last season before they eventually retained their Championship status under Michael O'Neill.
Mowbray has been tasked with building on that effort next season and he will want Montgomery to be a part of that.
