Birmingham City have been priced at 5/1 to beat Wolves' League One points record in the upcoming campaign with the Blues having made a plethora of eye-catching summer signings.
Relegated on the final day of the Championship season last term following a miserable campaign in which six different managers were at the helm, Birmingham have undergone a summer revamp as they prepare for life in League One.
Former Celtic and Tottenham assistant Chris Davies has taken charge in his first management position, with the Blues recruiting as many as eight new first team signings.
These new recruits have not come cheap either, with German defender Christoph Klarer signed for £3.5m and Icelandic attacking midfielder Willum Willumsson snapped up for over £3m from Darmstadt and Go Ahead Eagles respectively.
Birmingham's summer recruitment has been so lavish that questions surrounding the Blues' capacity to claim the League One trophy in 2024/25 have quickly evolved into discussions focused on their possible title-winning margin.
(Odds will display when market is available).
Central defender Klarer and goalscoring midfielder Willumsson are just two of Birmingham boss Davies' impressive new recruits, with the Blues acquiring a host of highly-rated players from across the UK, including Alex Cochrane from Hearts, Alfie May from Charlton and Marc Leonard from Brighton.
39-year-old Davies, a Wales youth international as a player before his fledgling career was cut short due to injury, has been mentored by both Brendan Rodgers and Ange Postecoglou in recent years and will be eager to make a similar impact as the likes of fellow first-time managers Kieran McKenna and John Mousinho at Ipswich Town and Portsmouth respectively.
bet365's Steve Freeth said: : “Blues fans not only had to deal with relegation to League One last season, they also had the double whammy of second city rivals Aston Villa making it to the Champions League rubbing further salt into the wound.
"However, there’s an air of confidence coming out of St Andrew’s right now with not only their fans but the betting community thinking that an instant return to the Championship is very much on the cards.
“The purse strings have been loosened with noticeable transfer business being completed in B9, so much so that the requests are no longer centred on Blues winning the title, but rather how many points they will end up accumulating."
As far as dominant League One-winning campaigns are concerned, Birmingham's West Midlands rivals Wolves are the benchmark, having acquired 103 points under Kenny Jackett in 2013/14 with a front three comprised of Bakary Sako, Nouha Dicko and Leigh Griffiths.
