bet365 have now paid out £88m on their Sub On Play On concession up to and including the Mexico v England Last 16 clash.
bet365’s Steve Freeth said: "The way that substitutes are influencing games, it probably won’t be too long before we top the £100m mark for this customer favourite.
"Gone are the days of being frustrated by your player prop being scuppered by a substitution, and bet365 customers also have the added bonus of extra-time running for them in the knockout stages.
"Soufiane Rahimi replacing Ismael Saibari was expensive in the group stage, and the deadly duo have been at it again in the knockouts. The Moroccan star went off injured after 22 minutes, with Rahimi scoring and finishing with two shots on target, giving us our costliest payout of the tournament so far.
"Ousmane Dembele and Mattheus Cunha take the other four places in our Top 5 payouts."
The offer, which sees player bets roll on to their replacement if the player is subbed off, had led to an extra £30m in payouts across the first 11 days of the World Cup, and now approached £50m by the knockout stage.
