bet365's La Liga Team of the Season

For a league dominated for so long by the duopoly of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, the quality of the Spanish top-flight has not diminished since the departure of arguably the two greatest players ever to play the game.

La Liga is home to some of Europe's most gifted players and with the emergence of Lamine Yamal - it may once again house the best footballer across the globe.

Following the signing of Kylian Mbappe, Real Madrid were hopeful that they could capture back-to-back titles but El Clasico rivals Barcelona stormed to an emphatic triumph.

Whilst the title is all sewn up, there is still plenty to be decided on the final day with European qualification and a two-way relegation battle between Espanyol and Leganes headlining a tense final gameweek.

Here's bet365's La Liga Team of the Season.

David Soria (GK)

In an era where goalkeepers are expected to play more and more with their feet, David Soria is somewhat of a throwback.

The average length of each pass he makes is longer than any other shot-stopper in the league - giving you an idea as to the brand of football that Getafe deploy.

Just 37 goals have been scored in the Getafe net this season, with Barcelona, Real Madrid, Villarreal and Real Betis all conceding more.

Having faced the second-most penalties in the league, Soria has done an incredible job to keep that tally as low as he has.

Jules Kounde (RB)

Despite missing the final parts of the season through injury, this has been Jules Kounde's best season in a Barca shirt since his 2022 transfer from Sevilla.

Supremely consistent on the right flank, his qualities in possession are there for all to see with his range of passing crucial to Barcelona's success.

Vivian (CB)

Part of the best defence in the league, Vivian has been excellent throughout 2024/25.

A dominant and physical presence at the heart of the Bilbao back-line, the 25-year-old looks a certainty to add to the eight caps he has accrued for Spain so far in his career.

Inigo Martinez (CB)

For a long time, Inigo Martinez played for sides unable to mount a sustained La Liga title challeng,e but at 34-years-old he has adapted impeccably to life at the top of the table.

His signing from Athletic Bilbao now looks a masterstroke given the flexibility that his wand of a left foot allows Barcelona to play with.

Martinez has proved a threat going forward this season as well, ranking in the top 1% for expected assists amongst players in his position throughout Europe.

Sergi Cardona (LB)

As debut seasons go, you wouldn't be swapping Sergi Cardona's time at Villarreal in a hurry.

The 25-year-old has notched more assists than any other defender in the league with seven - a total that matches the likes of Antoine Griezmann, Vinicius Junior and Yeremy Pino.

Excellent in his own half too, Cardona ranks amongst the best in Europe in his position for blocks, clearances and aerial duels won.

Pedri (CM)

Central to the way Barcelona play, Pedri has been the beating heart of this season's title-winning campaign.

The Spaniard is in a class of his own with the stats not doing anywhere near enough justice relative to his influence on the pitch.

He's also managed to keep himself fit - a concern for many early in his career - making 34 La Liga starts.

Federico Valverde (CM)

Characterised by his all-action style of play, the Uruguay international took on the number eight shirt following the retirement of Toni Kroos and it has so far worked out brilliantly.

Whilst Real Madrid may have disappointed in the league this season, Valverede has been a shining light - scoring nine goals from midfield.

His thunderous shot has long been a key weapon of his but it's effectiveness seems to have increased markedly throughout 2024/25.

Isco (AM)

Who doesn't love a footballing renaissance story?

After a couple of years in the wilderness at Real Madrid and Sevilla, Isco has been back to somewhere near his best at Real Betis.

Despite playing 21 games this season, his impact on the pitch has been huge.

Pivotal to the way Betis player, the Spaniard has scored nine goals and provided a further seven assists during his limited minutes.

Lamine Yamal (RW)

To be the best player on the planet is something, but to be the best player on the planet at his age is unprecedented.

Lamine Yamal has seen the records tumble during his first full season at Barcelona.

He became the youngest-ever player to score an El Clasico goal, with that strike being just one of his 22 goals and assists in La Liga this term.

Kylian Mbappe (ST)

Much has been made about Kylian Mbappe's first season in Madrid but on the whole it has been a roaring success.

Heading into the final match of the campaign, the Frenchman is on the brink of hitting 30 league goals and has broken the record for the most strikes by a Madrid player in his debut campaign.

His trophy cabinet may not be filled with the honours he may have wanted but his goal-tally, coupled with a hat-trick in El Clasico, earns him a spot here.

Raphinha (LW)

Brilliant ever since his move from Leeds United, Raphinha's Barcelona career has gone to a different level this season.

Speculation mounted that he may leave the club at the beginning of the campaign but such is his importance to the team, Hansi Flick instead handed him the captaincy.

The Brazilian international has fully repaid the faith by leading his side to the title - registering just shy of 30 goal contributions in the process.
