1983 World Darts Champion Keith Deller MBE shares his best bets for the 2025 bet365 US Darts Masters as Rob Cross bids to make a successful defence of his 2024 crown at New York City's iconic Theatre at Madison Square Garden.
'Voltage' became the fifth winner of the prestigious World Series of Darts event 12 months ago, seeing off Gerwyn Price 8-7 in an enthralling final.
Michael van Gerwen is the only two-time winner of the competition and will toe the oche in the Big Apple hoping to reproduce the same magic that secured him the title in 2023 and 2017, whilst world number one Luke Humphries and world champion Luke Littler will both fancy their chances of reigning supreme too.
Our resident darts expert Keith Deller provides us his exclusive pre-tournament prediction, as well as an appetising first round accumulator.
Luke Littler will feel he has a point to prove on the back of England's disappointing showing at the recent World Cup.
'The Nuke' took real offence to some comments in the media in the aftermath of his and Luke Humphries' shock exit in Frankfurt, and I fully expect him to bounce back with a bang this weekend.
He has pedigree in the World Series - winning his first professional title in Bahrain last year let's not forget - and I am certain that he will be right up for this.
He is in the favourable half of the draw and has picked up arguably the weakest North American representative in Jules van Dongen in the first round.
Expect him to steamroll his way past him and then overcome Nathan Aspinall in the quarter-finals to set-up a last four encounter with either Stephen Bunting or Damon Heta.
As I say, it's a good draw for Luke, he will have that bit between his teeth and he is my pick to hold aloft the bet365 US Darts Masters title this weekend.
Luke Humphries at 7/2 represents undoubted value, even if I do feel that Luke Littler will be the player celebrating victory come the early hours of Sunday morning.
Like Littler, 'Cool Hand' will still be feeling the frustrations of England's underwhelming showing at the World Cup and I expect a far more polished version of Humphries in the Big Apple.
He's proven in the past he can see off Littler in big time finals and whose to say he can't do the same again if the two modern day darting behemoths are to lock-horns in the MSG showpiece.
Personally, I feel he will come up just short this time around against a rejuvenated Littler, but taking the world number one on at E/W represents a solid option.
I don't envisage too many of the PDC representatives coming up short in the first round, so I have pieced together a little treble featuring Nathan Aspinall, Luke Humphries and Michael van Gerwen.
'The Asp' faces arguably the toughest of the eight American stars in Matt Campbell and whilst he will be given one or two moments of concern, I still expect him to come through the tie with a little room to spare.
Humphries should come out firing, so I am taking him to ease to victory over Stowe Buntz, whilst MVG will be made to work for his win against Leonard Gates, who is no stranger to the big stage.
