For the first time ever, bet365 will be offering In-Play betting on Sunday’s Brazilian Presidential Election.
Outright betting has been available since the General Election on 2nd October. In the first round of voting, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva of the left-wing Workers’ Party came out on top with 48.43% of the votes. Incumbent president Jair Bolsonaro's 43.20% was higher than many opinion polls suggested.
While Lula came close to being elected in the first round, the closer than anticipated result in the vote has led to a ‘runoff’ election on Sunday 30th October.
Lula is currently the favourite with bet365 customers at 4/9, while Bolsonaro, the representative for the Liberal Party, can be backed at 13/8.
The polls will open at 11am in the UK, and at 12pm, bet365 will move from a pre-event market to In-Play betting. The polls will close at 8pm in the UK, but the live In-Play market will remain available until a winner is announced.
Recent polls indicate that the race is tightening, and it cold all come down to who can best attract those voters who abstained during the first election. Free public transportation has been provided in all state capitals in a bid to avoid high abstention rates.
