Manchester City's dismal run continued with a humiliating 3-3 draw at home to Feyenoord in the UEFA Champions League.
Pep Guardiola's side were as short as 1/6 to win before kick-off, and looked to be putting their recent woes behind them when coasting to a 3-0 lead with Erling Haaland bagging a brace.
But City were on alert when Anis Hadj Moussa pulled one back after 75 minutes, and the tension was palpable when the Dutch side scored a second through Santiago Jimenez after 82 minutes.
The previously unthinkable suddenly felt like the inevitable as Feyenoord chased a third, bagging an equaliser in the 89th minute through David Hancko.
It was the first time since 1989 that City had thrown away a three-goal lead and the first time in 942 games that a Guardiola side has done the same.
Despite the misery at the Etihad, bet365 customers were relieved as pre-game bets in singles, multiples and in Bet Builders were all settled as winners thanks to the 2 Goals Ahead Early Payout offer.
bet365's Sports and Trading expert Steve Freeth said: It was a great night for favourite backers, with Barcelona, Bayer Leverkusen, Bayern Munich, Inter, Atletico Madrid, Atalanta, Milan and Arsenal all winning - most doing so comfortably.
"Under normal circumstances we’d be jumping for joy that 1/6 Manchester City threw away a 3-0 lead to finish 3-3 scuppering a Champions League favourites 9-fold that paid over 20/1.
"However, it doesn’t work like that at bet365 having paid out on Pep Guardiola’s side just after half-time when Ilkay Gundogan made it 2-0 thus triggering our 2 Goals Ahead Early Payout offer as we endured a wretched night on an evening laden with goals."
