We have priced up Kitty's Light as the 10/3 favourite to win the bet365 Gold Cup for the second year in a row at Sandown on Saturday afternoon.
Kitty's Light triumphed over the likes of Moroder, The Goffer and an ageing Frodon in last year's renewal, which is the last time Christian Williams' horse tasted success.
The victory, which followed wins in the Scottish Grand National and the Eider Chase at Newcastle, was all the more remarkable last spring as it came at an emotional time when Williams' daughter Betsy was diagnosed with leukaemia.
Success at the Grand National two weeks ago would have been an immensely popular one throughout horse racing and Kitty's Light did himself justice with a fine fifth-placed finish.
Whilst he is without a win in the last 12 months, the eight-year-old is amongst the leading contenders for the bet365 Gold Cup, which headlines the bet365 Jump Finale, and he will be the likely beneficiary of any spring fast ground at Sandown.
