bet365's EFL Team of the Season

From Leeds United and Burnley plotting their path back to the Premier League to Birmingham City producing a record-breaking campaign, the English Football League has been the scene of many success stories and celebration.

Countless players have made their mark across the Championship, League One and League Two and we've attempted to recognise players from all three divisions in our EFL Team of the Season.

Football

James Trafford (GK)

Burnley

Burnley's defensive statistics speak for themselves: 15 goals conceded and 30 clean sheets.

James Trafford has recorded 29 of those shutouts and has been an integral component in the Clarets' frightening resilience, leading the Championship goals prevented chart with an astonishing 12.6 - 2.6 more than the next second tier goalkeeper, Viktor Johansson.

After a difficult maiden Premier League campaign, Cumbrian-born Trafford has rose to the occasion under Scott Parker.

Jayden Bogle (RB)

Leeds United

There are plenty of contenders across each division but Jayden Bogle has been a cut above in the right-back department for Daniel Farke.

The defensively diligent 24-year-old has been Leeds' driving force from the flank and his abundant energy has enabled him to contribute to the Whites' attacking output, chalking up four goals and six assists.

Christoph Klarer (CB)

Birmingham City

Christoph Klarer demonstrated he was levels above the third tier after joining Birmingham City from Darmstadt 98.

Physically imposing, oozing composure and possessing impressive leadership qualities, Klarer has been the cornerstone of Chris Davies' indomitable outfit.

Maxime Esteve (CB)

Burnley

Reiterating Burnley's aforementioned defensive numbers, Maxime Esteve has played a vital role in Scott Parker's men shattering a catalogue of records.

The Frenchman combined his flair in possession with bold and aggressive defending to prosper in a formidable Clarets defensive unit alongside CJ Egan-Riley.

Denver Hume (LB)

Grimsby Town

Next we venture to League Two where Denver Hume appears to have unearthed a home at Blundell Park.

The enterprising left-back has thrived in David Artell's system and added another dimension to Grimsby's attack.

Registering a joint-league high 12 assists, no player has created more chances in the fourth tier and Hume ranks behind only Dan Crowley for big chances created.

Tomoki Iwata (CM)

Birmingham City

Tomoki Iwata's deadline day capture was overshadowed by Birmingham's deal for Jay Stansfield but the former Celtic midfielder has been one of the most important buys for the League One champions.

Creating his own Goal of the Season competition with an array of sumptuous, long-distance strikes, Iwata's unceasing work-rate helped protect Birmingham's backline and invigorated their attack.

Josh Brownhill (CM)

Burnley

16 goals from midfield is an impressive accomplishment. It's even more staggering when you consider that on eight of the occasions Josh Brownhill rippled the back of the net, they were match-winning contributions.

The Clarets captain proved to be a consistently dependable figure in the heart of Parker's midfield who delivered the goods at pivotal moments.

Luke Molyneux (RW)

Doncaster Rovers

If it was possible to pick two right wingers, Luke Molyneux and Daniel James would be sharing the pitch.

Molyneux gets the nod in this instance and with good reason. The winger has been a talismanic figure in Doncaster's promotion success.

With the mesmerising ability to glide beyond defenders, Molyneux has been an unstoppable force under Grant McCann and comfortably one of the league's leading players.

Gustavo Hamer (LW)

Sheffield United

It's been yet another tremendous campaign for Gustavo Hamer, who has chalked up 16 goal contributions to remind everyone why he's deserving of another crack at the Premier League.

The Championship's Player of the Season has unearthed a new role on the left side of Chris Wilder's attacking quartet and his ability to exploit the inner channels have ensured he's just as dangerous as when he operated as a ten.

Michael Cheek (ST)

Bromley

Goals are quite simply in Michael Cheek's DNA and the Bromley legend has taken to the English Football League like a duck to water.

Only Mohamed Salah has chalked up more goal contributions than the veteran striker across England's top four tiers, with Cheek netting 23 goals and registering seven assists as the Ravens achieved an applaudable mid-table finish.

Charlie Kelman (ST)

Leyton Orient

Leyton Orient have been one of the stories of the English Football League and their surge up the League One table has been mostly aided by their prolific frontman, Charlie Kelman.

On loan from QPR, the 23-year-old is a relentless worker who's showcased his clinical touch in front of goal, with Kelman netting 13 goals in 16 games from February to take his tally to a league-high 21
