Celtic were outplayed in Lisbon as they suffered a 4-1 defeat to Benfica in the UEFA Europa League.
Martin O'Neill's side fell behind in the fifth minute as Jhon Duran scored from the penalty spot after Dane Murray had fouled him in the box.
Benfica doubled their lead in the 23rd minute as Alexander Bah volleyed home from a corner after being left unmarked.
Former Aston Villa striker Duran grabbed his second 13 minutes later after he fired an effort straight through Celtic goalkeeper Viljami Sinisalo.
Celtic pulled one back through a Duran of their own as Camilo Duran bravely headed home just after the hour mark.
But it proved merely to be a consolation, while Benfica made it four in the closing stages via Vangelis Pavlidis.
Celtic have now suffered back-to-back defeats at the start of their Europa League campaign following last month's home defeat to Ferencvaros.
