Becoming one of just six players to ever complete the career Grand Slam as well as ending an 11-year major drought, Rory McIlroy carved his name into golfing history.

The manner in which he captured the Green Jacket was befitting of his Hollywood career and with 2025 presenting the opportunity to win a Ryder Cup on American soil, he could only further enhance his claims.

Luke Littler

Already a Premier League and World Series of Darts winner, Luke Littler will aim to cement his place as the world's best darts player in 2025, starting with the World Championship.

The teenager will also look to push Luke Humphries close to top the Order of Merit.

Lando Norris

After getting a first Grand Prix win under his belt in 2024 - and adding three more throughout the season - Lando Norris will hope to go one better in 2025, ousting Max Verstappen.

Should he take the world title, Norris has every chance of joining fellow drivers Stirling Moss, Jackie Stewart, Nigel Mansell, Damon Hill and Lewis Hamilton in winning Sports Personality of the Year.

Lucy Bronze

After Beth Mead took the award on the back of England's Euros success in 2022, and Mary Earps winning the following year after her heroics in goal as England lost the World Cup final, Lucy Bronze could be the third Lioness in four years to win Sports Personality, with England bidding for more Euros glory in 2025.

Leah Williamson

Owing to Lucy Bronze's injury struggles, there may be a more attractive proposition in the England captain, Leah Williamson. Though Williamson has suffered with injury issues of her own, she'll likely be amongst the SPOTY front-runners if she can guide the Lionesses to a second straight European Championship win.
