Barcelona La Liga Odds 2024/25: Catalans second favourites behind Real Madrid

Barcelona are priced at 7/2 to wrestle the La Liga title back from rivals Real Madrid in the 2024/25 season following the appointment of Hansi Flick as the club's new manager.

Despite performing a U-turn on his January decision to leave Barcelona at the end of the season, Xavi was eventually sacked as the club's manager prior to taking charge of the Catalans' final game of the 2023/24 campaign - a 2-1 away victory over Sevilla.

The departure of club legend Xavi prompted a search for a new figurehead to help Barcelona return to the top of Spanish football, after the Catalan giants relinquished the La Liga title to Carlo Ancelotti's Real Madrid in 2023/24.

Former Bayern Munich and Germany boss Hans Flick emerged as the preferred candidate to take Barcelona forward, with the 59-year-old penning a two-year contract at the Camp Nou.

Previously serving as Joachim Low's assistant manager of Germany for eight years between 2006 and, bowing out with a World Cup win in Brazil in 2014, Flick became interim manager of Bayern Munich in November 2019 following the sacking of Niko Kovac.

Flick went on to work wonders in interim charge at the Allianz Arena, earning the continental Treble of the Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal and Champions League in 2019/20.

The German would go on to win a further four trophies at the club in 2020/21 - the Bundesliga again, DFL-Supercup, UEFA Supercup and Club World Cup - before departing Bavaria to take charge of his country.

The former Bayern and FC Koln midfielder experienced contrasting fortunes as manager of the Germany national team, however, lasting just two years in the role between 2021 and 2023 with the Nationalelf eliminated in the knockout stages of the World Cup for the second time in a row in Qatar in 2022.

The Barcelona hierarchy will be hoping Flick is able to replicate his previous success with Bayern at the Camp Nou, with the 27-time La Liga winners facing a tough task to lay down a stronger challenge to Real Madrid next season, with Los Blancos primed to add French superstar Kylian Mbappe to their ranks.
