The British equivalent of the Oscars, the BAFTAs celebrates the best cinematic feats of the year at a glitzy awards ceremony held on annual basis.
Ahead of the 78th British Academy Film Awards in 2025, we take a look at everything you need to know about the illustrious event.
The 2025 BAFTAs will be held on Sunday 16th February 2025.
The awards ceremony is scheduled to begin at 19:00 GMT and finish at 21:00 GMT.
The 2025 BAFTAs will be held at the Royal Festival Hall in London's Southbank Centre.
The Royal Festival Hall has hosted the BAFTAs since 2023, with previous venues including the Royal Albert Hall, Odeon Leicester cinema and the Royal Opera House.
The BAFTAs will be hosted by actor David Tennant for the second year in a row in 2025.
Hailing from Bathgate, Scotland, Tennant is perhaps best known for his role as the 10th incarnation of the Doctor in the popular BBC sci-fi series Doctor Who.
BAFTA winners are determined following multiple rounds of voting by different groups of people - Acting Chapters, longlisting juries and film-voting members.
For film awards, the voting process begins with all film-voting BAFTA members determining an initial longlist, with a jury selecting nominees before the film-voting members decide the ultimate winner.
For performance awards, voting begins with an Acting Chapter picking their top choices, with a jury selecting nominees and the entire Acting Branch determining the winner.
As of 2024, the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) had 13,500 members.
