American Affair secured victory in the Portland at the St Leger meeting just last week and trainer Jim Goldie feels he is ready to challenge again in one of the highlights of the Scottish racing calendar.

He will carry a 5lb penalty on his quick reappearance and victory at Ayr would represent a sensational sprint handicap double for the four-year-old.

Last year's runner-up Ramazan is also prominent in the betting after a couple of near misses this season, while Northern Express' impressive victory in the International Stakes at Ascot last time out should put him firmly in contention.

John and Thady Gosden's Mostabshir could improve after his fourth-placed finish in the Stewards' Cup at Glorious Goodwood and Lethal Levi arrives in fine form after scoring at Newbury last month.
