Ever since the draw for the 2025 Australian Open men's singles was made, the prospect of a quarter-final meeting between Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz has loomed large.
Serbian icon Djokovic has won a record 10 titles at the Australian Open, with the 37-year-old eyeing up a 25th Grand Slam success which would see him stand alone in both the men's and women's game.
Making a shock move to appoint former rival Andy Murray as his head coach ahead of the Australian Open, Djokovic has looked in terrific form in Melbourne thus far - knocking out Nishesh Basavareddy, Jaime Faria, Tomas Machac and Jiri Lehecka to reach the last eight.
However, standing in the way of Djokovic and the Australian Open semi-finals is sensational Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, who himself has shone brightly in the competition so far.
World number three Alcaraz is aiming to complete the career Grand Slam by winning the Australian Open this month and has eliminated Alexander Shevchenko, Yoshihito Nishioka, Nuno Borges and Jack Draper to set up a quarter-final clash against Djokovic.
