Aston Villa v Leeds United Bet Boosts: Home hoodoo to end in 9/2 shot

We’re offering even bigger prices on Friday night’s Premier League clash at Villa Park, including a BOOSTED 9/2 Bet Builder.

Unai Emery will be demanding a response from his players as Aston Villa play host to Leeds United on Friday night, desperate to bounce back from their shock FA Cup home defeat to Stevenage.

The Frenchman endured his most frustrating afternoon in office as the League Two minnows produced the upset of the round by coming from behind to claim a dramatic 2-1 Villa Park success.

Emery’s frustrations were understandably clear following the game and he has since laid down the gauntlet to his troops to show character and mettle by maintaining their upturn in fortunes in the Premier League.

Villa (1/1 to win the game) have claimed ten points from their opening five fixtures under the guidance of the former Sevilla and Arsenal boss, and will move to within three of Liverpool in seventh if they are able to see off Jesse Marsch’s men in front of the live television cameras.

11/4 shots Leeds have struggled for form and consistency this term, and whilst they are unbeaten in three – having drawn each of those games – they have only taken maximum spoils on the road once; a 2-1 success over Liverpool at Anfield.

Remarkably, it’s been almost five years since a home side have prevailed in encounters between the two teams, with all seven matches since Villa’s 1-0 Championship triumph in 2018 ending either in victory for the away side or in stalemate.

As with every top-flight game over the weekend, we’ve got a selection of Bet Boosts available for the clash in the Midlands, including a solid-looking 9/2 chance that would see that aforementioned ‘home hoodoo’ run dry.

Backing up the Boost

Prior to the disappointment of the defeat to Stevenage, Emery couldn’t have wished for a more impactful start to life in the Villa Park hot-seat.

A sensational 3-1 home victory over Manchester United, in his first game in charge, proved the catalyst for their recent resurgence; one that has established the club as genuine top-half contenders (6/4 for a top ten finish) having appeared destined for a battle for survival under the Gerrard’s stewardship.

His arrival has turned the tide in stunning style, notching three victories from his opening five league outings and elevating the Villans up and away from the cluster of clubs, including Leeds, languishing towards the lower echelons of the table.

Yes, Villa were beaten by Stevenage last weekend, but sweeping changes were made to the side – not that anybody can excuse a top-flight side coming unstuck against an opponent three tiers below them in the English football pyramid.

However, the home side do have bouncebackability within their locker. The last four times they have been beaten they have responded with victory; something they are Even Money to achieve for a fifth successive occasion on Friday.

Historically, the omens don’t look too appetising for Leeds fans either, with Villa claiming eight points from the last four league meetings between the sides, with the Yorkshire side’s last success in October 2020 being one of only seven victories from the previous 31 encounters.

Defensively, the Whites are fragile. They have conceded 15 in their last seven fixtures; including four against Tottenham Hotspur, three against Bournemouth and two against Championship side Cardiff last time out.

Villa will look to capitalise upon that weakness and utilise the creative talents of Leon Bailey and Emiliano Buendia, amongst others, to put Leeds’ backline to the sword once again.

The pair have featured heavily this term, under both Gerrard and Emery, and neither are shy of pulling the trigger when given the opportunity – which makes the two ‘Over 0.5 Shots on Target’ legs of the BOOSTED Bet Builder appeal.

Bailey has notched four domestic goals this term and averages at least one shot per game, hitting the target with almost 50 percent of his efforts, whilst former Norwich City man Buendia has hit the target with six of his 13 attempts at goal to date, including one in each of his last two top-flight appearances.
