Arsene Wenger's most used players by appearances for Arsenal

Arsene Wenger led Arsenal to three Premier League titles and seven FA Cup honours, but it's fair to say that a proportion of his success can be attributed to the endless talent that he managed.

We take a look at the top 10 most used players by Wenger as Arsenal manager.

Premier League

Most used players by Arsene Wenger at Arsenal

• Patrick Vieira (401)

Arriving alongside Wenger in 1996, Patrick Vieira went from being a relatively unknown entity to one of the most physically imposing central midfielders the Premier League has ever seen.

Almost in poetic fashion, after winning three league titles under Wenger's Gunners, Vieira's last action in an Arsenal shirt was scoring the winning penalty against Manchester United in the 2005 FA Cup final.

• Theo Walcott (397)

Theo Walcott arrived at Arsenal in 2006 as one of the brightest prospects that the country had to offer, joining the club for a £9.1m fee.

A direct winger with the ability to outpace any full-back he came up against, all 397 of Walcott's Gunners appearances came under Wenger, before joining Everton in 2018.

• Thierry Henry (377)

Argued by many as the greatest player to step foot in the Premier League, Thierry Henry made 377 appearances under fellow Frenchman Wenger.

During that spell, he won the Premier League Golden Boot on four occasions and the PFA Players' Player of the Year award twice, thriving in Wenger's formidable side.

• Dennis Bergkamp (375)

Thierry Henry's partner in crime, Dennis Bergkamp played 375 games under Wenger, scoring 102 goals and assisting 104 times during this remarkable spell.

The first real example that we saw in the Premier League of a centre forward who was equally as impressive with his back to goal, the Dutchman had an extraordinary understanding of the game, as well as a stunning first touch.

• Aaron Ramsey (329)

A product of Cardiff City's youth academy, Aaron Ramsey chose to join Wenger's Arsenal in 2008, despite conversations with both Everton and Manchester United.

Such is the cruel nature of the sport at times, the Welshman was significantly hindered by injuries during his spell at the club.

Ramsey suffered from a horrific leg-break in a contest away at Stoke in 2010, since stating that it was a huge setback in his career.

• Freddie Ljungberg (328)

Just one appearance shy of Ramsey's 329 games under Wenger, Freddie Ljungberg is next on the list, enjoying nine years at the club between 1998 and 2007.

The versatile wide player won the Premier League twice and the FA Cup three times during his spell at the club, having also managed Arsenal as an interim head coach prior to the club's appointment of Mikel Arteta in the 2019/20 campaign.

• Kolo Toure (326)

While many remember Kolo's brother Yaya as the more successful of the two Toure brothers, many forget that Kolo Toure was part of Wenger's Invincible team in the 2003/04 campaign, playing 37 of a possible 38 games that campaign.

He made 326 appearances for Arsenal with Wenger as manager, before leaving to join Manchester City in 2009.

• Laurent Koscielny (324)

Koscielny was purchased from Lorient in 2010 with Arsenal lacking in the defensive department, and it's fair to say that his time in north London is underrated by many, part of an XI that added three FA Cup triumphs to the club's tally.

Despite offering his services at the club for 9 years, his departure was rather unusual, ultimately forcing a move to Bordeaux in 2019, a year after Wenger's exit.

• Ray Parlour (317)

While Ray Parlour may not top the list for the most appearances under Wenger as Arsenal manager, he does lead the way as the player with the most Premier League appearances for the Gunners.

Capable of playing as both a right midfielder and a central midfielder, Parlour was a dependable member of Wenger's squad at Arsenal.

• Cesc Fabregas (303)

Cesc Fabregas joins the list of supremely talented footballers to play for Arsenal under Wenger, joining the club's academy in 2003 after sensing limited first team opportunities at Barcelona.

Perhaps controversially, the midfielder returned to England in 2014 after leaving Arsenal in 2011 by joining fellow Londoners Chelsea.
