Bukayo Saka has been instrumental to Arsenal's improvement under Mikel Arteta and, with the England international set to miss many weeks, the Gunners will be required to play without him for the foreseeable.
While it is harsh to say that Arsenal have been reliant on Saka at the start of the 2024/25 Premier League campaign, 15 goal contributions in 16 league games for the winger suggests that their league position may have fallen slightly lower without him.
Having already been tasked with finding a short-term replacement for Martin Odegaard earlier on in the season, we are yet to find out how the Gunners will cope without Saka.
We take a look at potential internal replacements to fill the void on the right wing.
After a slow start to the season for the Brazilian international, a hat-trick against Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup meant that he returned to the team for their following fixture against the Eagles, where he would net another two goals.
He has spent the majority of the season as a backup to Kai Havertz, whose physical presence up top gives the Gunners another dimension. However, the absence of Bukayo Saka may open the door for the forward on the right hand side.
While it is clear that Arsenal do not have a like-for-like senior replacement for Saka, Jesus is no stranger to playing on the right hand side of a front three.
In his time at Manchester City, he registered 14 goal contributions in 20 games when playing on the right, proving that he is more than capable playing that role.
It would be unfair to expect his output to match that of Saka's, but he is a proven goalscorer in the Premier League and that fact remains irrespective of where he is placed in the front three.
While the point still stands that Arsenal don't have an experienced like-for-like replacement for Saka, there is a strong possibility that Ethan Nwaneri may be introduced off the right.
As a left-footed right winger, Nwaneri is the closest thing that Arsenal have to Saka.
That said, having played just 18 times for the Gunners, it would be a huge step up for the youngest player in Premier League history.
Nwaneri possesses a low centre of gravity which often makes his movement unpredictable, much like Saka, and this could be hugely beneficial to an Arsenal team who will be in need of new ideas.
He may be eased into the XI as opposed to being thrown in by Arteta, but certainly expect Nwaneri to have some role in the absence of Saka.
Gabriel Martinelli's output since his outstanding breakthrough at Arsenal has left some Arsenal fans wanting more, scoring just six times in the 2023/24 Premier League term.
That said, Martinelli's dynamic and explosive style of play could hand well to the right wing role.
It is clear that no matter who replaces Saka, tactical changes will need to be made in order to facilitate for the replacement. Given that Martinelli is a regular starter in Arteta's XI, a switch to the opposite flank may be the simplest solution.
Not only will he be most familiar with Saka's role on a weekly basis, but he could also offer a more direct element to the Gunners' attack, more capable of taking on the defender round the outside.
Opting for Martinelli to replace Saka on the right could also allow a place in the side for Leandro Trossard at left wing, whose constant goal threat would be advantageous in the absence of Saka.
