Arsenal 2-1 Chelsea - Match Stats & Timeline: Xabi Alonso tastes first defeat

Arsenal preserved their unbeaten status with a 2-1 win over Chelsea on Sunday afternoon.

It took less than two minutes for Chelsea to open the scoring at the Emirates, and it was only ever going to be one man.

Morgan Rogers -- who joined the West London outfit despite Arsenal's long-standing interest -- fired a right-footed volley goalwards and past David Raya, silencing the home fans who hadn't seen their team concede at home in a competitive match since 11th April against Bournemouth.

Arsenal responded through Kai Havertz in the 25th minute, with Emi Martinez only able to get a fingertip to the former Chelsea man's strike.

Havertz was at the heart of the action again in the 50th minute, but this time he didn't even need to touch the ball to make a huge impact. The German dummied Christos Tzolis' pass, which eventually found Gunners captain Martin Odegaard.

The Norwegian found himself one on one with Martinez, where he emphatically smashed the ball home on his stronger left foot.

Odegaard's sweetly struck effort proved the decisive goal in North London, handing Xabi Alonso his first defeat since being appointed as the Chelsea manager.
