Antonio Conte has teased a return to management just shy of five months on from his Napoli departure.
Conte parted ways with Gli Azzurri at the end of the 2025/26 campaign, and while Napoli were unable to overcome Inter Milan in the Italian's closing term, he etched his name into the club's history books when delivering their fourth Serie A honour in the 2024/25 season.
The 57-year-old's longest period out of management is 14 months -- spanning from his Tottenham Hotspur departure to his Napoli arrival -- but he's already indicated a willingness to return to the scene less than six months after leaving the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.
When speaking to The Athletic, he said: “There are many clubs that have somewhat lost sight of their history.
“I’d like to go to one of these clubs to dust off that history and make it shine once more."
Conte has been in high profile jobs for as long as we can remember -- with Chelsea, Inter Milan, Spurs and Napoli his most recent conquests -- and we take a look at where he could end up next.
This is not the first time that Conte has been linked to the Manchester United hotseat, and it likely won't be the last.
The manager's comments about wanting to manage a club who have "lost sight of their history" resonate with the Red Devils, who haven't won the Premier League since the 2012/13 season.
From financial pressures to poor squad building, Man Utd have endured problems both on and off the pitch, and they're yet to find a manager capable of bridging the gap on the likes of Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool, who for the most part have surpassed the 20-time top-flight winners in a number of metrics.
Man Utd have gone down virtually every route possible when it comes to identifying a manager. From household names like Jose Mourinho to trendy European managers like Erik ten Hag and Ruben Amorim, it's yet to really work out.
They reverted to the method of hiring a former Man Utd player when appointing Michael Carrick on a permanent deal, and after an underwhelming start to the 2026/27 campaign, there are doubts as to whether the board made the correct decision.
With Conte hellbent on restoring the legacy of a club who have faded in more recent years, could a return to England in the form of the Red Devils be on the cards?
There was an element of surprise when Conte left Juventus via mutual consent in 2014 after winning three successive Serie A titles, but they didn't part ways on bad terms and this could leave the door open for a potential return at some stage.
Like Man Utd, the Old Lady fit the description of the kind of club that Conte is keen on joining.
After nine consecutive Serie A triumphs -- which concluded with their success in 2019/20 -- they're without top-flight silverware in the last six campaigns.
Luciano Spalletti was appointed to steer the club back in the right direction in October 2025, but they could only manage a sixth placed finish, therefore missing out on UEFA Champions League football for the 2026/27 term.
Juve have enjoyed a steady start to the new campaign under the stewardship of Spalletti, but if the club are not in touching distance of odds-on favourites Inter by Christmas, the pressure is likely to pile on the manager.
In the event that Spalletti is sacked, Conte may be amongst the high profile options considered.
