Former Manchester United striker Anthony Martial has been linked with a return to the Premier League.
The 30-year-old has been without a club since he agreed to terminate his contract with Liga MX side Monterrey at the start of June.
Martial has been on a somewhat nomadic journey following the end of his nine-year association with Man Utd, joining AEK Athens for a season before venturing to Mexico to join Monterrey.
Formerly a recipient of the prestigious Golden Boy award and with over 30 caps for France, Martial is keen to revive his career with a move back to Europe.
With several clubs failing to acquire the striker they desperately needed before the end of the window, we take a look at the clubs that could sign the free agent Frenchman.
Everton
Everton have been credited with an interest in Martial after failing to add another striker before the transfer deadline.
The Toffees were hoping to wrap up a £40million deal for AS Monaco forward Folarin Balogun, only for the United States international to fail his medical which scuppered the transfer.
Everton then attempted a last-ditch effort to sign Joshua Zirkzee from Manchester United, only to be rebuffed in the dying embers of the window, leaving David Moyes with Thierno Barry as his sole recognised striker.
Martial is certainly a gamble, and with no disrespect to the Liga MX or Greek Super League, neither are the level of the Premier League. But unless Moyes is willing to take a punt on a Braiden Graham from the academy or sample Tyrique George as a lone striker, Everton don't really have much choice.
Valencia
Valencia are another club that failed to bring in a striker they desired before the window ended.
Los Che were negotiating a deal for Birmingham City's Marvin Ducksch but failed to agree terms, and Borussia Monchengladbach's Tomas Cvancara, who spent last season on loan at Celtic, was also linked.
A lack of firepower has hurt Carlos Corberan's outfit in their opening matches of the 2026/27 La Liga season and they would benefit massively from any form of forward, let alone a player of Martial's top-flight experience and calibre.
Sevilla
Martial spent the second half of the 2021/22 season on loan at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán, and despite a promising start under Julen Lopetegui, he ultimately failed to have the desired impact in Andalusia.
The Frenchman was restricted to just 12 appearances in all competitions before returning to United - Sevilla were never going to purchase Martial outright with their checkered financial record.
However, there's no transfer fee for Sevilla to consider on this occasion, and their forward options may benefit from a more experienced head being around them. Robbie Ure, Sevilla's £5.5m summer purchase, is 22 while loan signing Lucas Stassin is 21.
In an environment he's previously adjusted to, Martial might be able to put himself back on the map in southern Spain.
