Aussie Rules: Andrew extends Suns stay

The Gold Coast Suns have secured the future of Mac Andrew who has penned a new two-year contract with the club.

The Suns are priced at 6/1 to finish in the top eight of the AFL and play finals football this season and Andrew is now very much a part of the future of the club.

Easy decision to make

Andrew signed up with the Suns in the 2021 NAB AFL draft when he was selected as pick No.5 and he says it was an easy decision to extend his deal with the club.

He has extended by two years to take him through until the end of 2025 and he is excited to see what the future holds.

"The way the boys and staff treated me when I first came in made me feel really welcome," Andrew told AFL.com.au after the deal was announced.

"I didn't hesitate when they approached me. I've found a good group of friends. There's a lot of young kids here that have come from interstate and know what I was going through when I first came up.

"Just settling in with them, they made me feel really welcome."

Suns thrilled

General Manager of Player Talent and Strategy Craig Cameron also said the club was delighted to get Andrew locked in.

“We’ve loved having Mac at the club, he’s formed some great relationships already and is invested in his own development with a hunger to improve each day,” Cameron said.

“Mac will be a very important long-term player for the Gold Coast SUNS and we can’t wait to see his hard work and exciting football ability come to fruition on the field.”
