Horse Racing Tips: Andrew Cooper's Goodwood Sunday tips

The ITV cameras remain in place at Goodwood for day three of their Celebration Mile meeting on Sunday and Andrew Cooper has a trio of fancies, including one in the Group 3 Supreme Stakes.

1.50 Goodwood
Dusky Lord @ 4/1
1pt win

3.35 Goodwood
Double Or Bubble @ 9/4
2pts win

4.45 Goodwood
Gert Lush @ 7/1
1pt win

Dusky can lord it over his rivals

Atalanta's Boy bids to land the sprint handicap at 1.50 for the third consecutive year but it's pretty hard to imagine a fairytale win given his current form and doubts about a stable switch making enough of a difference.

Many A Star, who took the poorly contested Stewards' Sprint at the Glorious meeting, is greatly respected but Roger Varian's Dusky Lord is the pick.

He too ran at Goodwood's flagship meeting, running a stormer to finish second to Lord Riddiford on day one.

A lacklustre run in an ultra competitive contest at York 11 days ago can be explained as very few got involved on a track that favours front-runners, indeed the first and second disputed the lead wide apart early.

Returning to 6f can see him record win number four from just 11 starts.

Bubble has more than a squeak in the big one

The feature Supreme Stakes, due off at 3.35, looks to be between Happy Power and Double Or Bubble and last year's runner-up gets the nod.

Chris Wall's mare emerged with great credit when sent off favourite 12 months ago but her five-year-old campaign may be what she's remembered for.

Emulating her sister Mix And Mingle, by winning a Group 3, was the perfect start to the season and pleasing runs in the Platinum Jubilee and July Cup bode well for this ease in grade returned to 7f.

The 2020 victor, Happy Power (he beat 2021 scorer Toro Strike by a neck), is a rock-solid alternative but his beating of two rivals at Leicester in April is his sole success in nearly two years.

Running big in the Group 2 Lennox Stakes last time may suck a few in but I'm standing firm.

A tactical affair could throw a spanner in the works, and bring one or two at bigger prices into play, but it's hoped Ever Given will step up and make the running.

Gert Lush has really good claims in the finale

The closing amateur riders' handicap (4.45) is the most competitive race on the card with several turning up in good form and used to running in this type of race.

Last year's winner Luna Magic bids for a hat-trick following wins at Salisbury (one of which was landed before coming here 12 months ago) while The Game Is On, who took division one in 2020, may have been aimed at this by new trainer George Baker.

Eton Blue, who will be partnered by Simon Walker, gives him a strong hand.

I've a lot of time for Roger Teal and Gert Lush could make it four winners from 13 runners in the last fortnight.

Her sole course run resulted in a win over this trip under Megan Jordan (June 2021) off 5lb higher and there were signs the last twice that she's running into form.
