Amir Khan has insisted that Terence Crawford shouldn't be written off ahead of a huge September clash with Canelo Alvarez.
Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford are set to step in the ring for a long-awaited, blockbuster fight in the early hours of the 14th September.
Since losing to Dmitry Bivol via unanimous decision in May 2022, Alvarez has won all of his six fights. With that said, questions are expectedly starting to be asked about his power, having not recorded a knockout victory in the last six bouts.
Meanwhile, Crawford is set to put his 31-0 unbeaten record on the line, most recently defeating Israil Madrimov via unanimous decision in August 2024.
Someone who knows a thing or two about both of these fighters is Britain’s Amir Khan, fighting both Alvarez and Crawford on separate occasions.
Suffering a KO loss to Alvarez in May 2016, he would fall to a TKO defeat against Crawford just three years later in April 2019.
He spoke to Sky Sports and offered his outlook on the contest.
Khan said: “When I was fighting Canelo I was probably beating him on points but he was just so strong and so big. When I was hitting him I could see that it wasn't affecting him. The guy was riding them and waiting for that one big shot which he caught me with and put me away.
"But is he going to catch Crawford with that shot?
"When I fought [Crawford] he was probably stronger than me and I was a 147lb fighter for a very long time. At the moment Crawford looks unbeatable and Canelo looks strong and especially fighting a smaller guy he looks unbeatable. So let's see how this plays out.
When questioned about writing off Crawford, he responded:
Not at all because he [Crawford] is such a technical fighter.

“If he just boxed him technically and Crawford puts on the weight well, he's a big 147lb fighter. Massive difference in size. Size matters but lets see.
"I'm not going to predict who's going to win but I know it will be a hell of a fight."
