Allsvenskan: Format

Since 2008, there has been 16 teams in the league. During the course of a season, each club plays the other twice, home and away, for a total of 30 games.

After 30 games have concluded, top spot will be named the Allsvenskan champions and will qualify for the UEFA Champions League.

The two lowest placed teams at the end of the season are relegated to Superettan and the top two teams from Superettan are promoted in their place. The 14th placed team in the Allsvenskan will play the third placed team in the Superettan (second division) in a relegation/promotion play-off.
