Boxing: All you need to know about Kiko Martinez v Josh Warrington

Kiko Martinez and Josh Warrington will share a ring for the second time this weekend, with the IBF featherweight title on the line.

View Latest Odds

Warrington has endured a frustrating 12 months, losing his unbeaten record, while the chance to fight in the USA continues to evade him.

On the other hand, Martinez has rolled back the years of late and his dramatic victory over Kid Galahad means he will defend his title on Saturday evening.

Where and when is the Martinez s Warrington fight?

Warrington returns to his hometown of Leeds, and he and Martinez will clash at the First Direct Arena for a second time.

While the main card is due to start at 19:00, the showpiece should not get underway until 22:30.

Where can I watch the Martinez v Warrington fight?

The fight will be shown live on streaming service DAZN.

What are the records of the fighters?

Kiko Martinez - 55 fights, 30 wins (30 KOs)
Josh Warrington - 32 fights, 30 wins (7KOs)

Martinez has proven he can be beaten on no fewer than ten occasions during his career, with the likes of Zelfra Barrett, Gary Russell Jnr, Leo Santa Cruz, Scott Quigg and Carl Frampton all beating him.

Warrington beat the Spaniard in 2017, but he was only given a majority decision and will want a more convincing display this time around.

Leeds' prizefighter has only tasted defeat on one occasion, with Mauricio Lara getting the better of him in February 2021.

Lara recorded a ninth-round stoppage before their rematch ended in a draw in the second round due to an accidental head clash.

Warrington's last win came in 2019, and he will need to roll back the years in order to get his hand raised.

Martinez v Warrington predictions

At odds of 1/4, Warrington offers very little value for a victory, but it is easy to see why he is the odds-on favourite.

The "Leeds Warrior" has already proved he has the tools to beat Martinez, even if that victory was five years ago and while he has won a world title since that first battle, he has also tasted defeat for the first time.

Warrington's hunger and drive to succeed seems to have returned since his shock defeat to Lara, but in Martinez he faces one of the toughest men in the featherweight division.

The Spaniard showcased incredible one-punch power against Galahad and if Warrington is not careful, he will end up on the canvas in front of his beloved fanbase.

Warrington's style has always been all-action, and while Martinez will not be shy away from a gunfight, his age may catch up to him down the stretch.

A Warrington win via decision at 5/6 looks the way to go, as does fight to go the distance at 4/6.
