Seville is a city famous for its passion, so it is only natural that meetings between its two primary football clubs, Sevilla and Real Betis, are often fiery affairs.
Nicknamed El Gran Derbi, the rivalry has existed since 1929 and the latest instalment comes on Sunday, as Los Rojiblancos host Los Beticos at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.
Sevilla have enjoyed the upper hand throughout the pair's history. Both have won La Liga once, making them two of only nine teams to have topped the standings in Spain.
However, Sevilla have five Copa del Rey crowns to Betis' two, while they have also won the Europa League on a record seven occasions.
The first El Gran Derbi of 2023/24 takes place on Sunday 12th November, 2023.
Sevilla and Betis will then meet again on the weekend of Saturday 27th April, 2024.
Sunday's El Gran Derbi is set to kick off at 17:30 UK time.
El Gran Derbies in La Liga are played at two venues. Sevilla host their games, including Sunday's match, at their home ground of the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, situated in the city's Nervion district.
Betis' home is the Estadio Benito Villamarin in Heliopolis.
Like all European domestic games, bet365 will stream both El Gran Derbi matches in 2023/24 via their Sports Live Streaming service.
Sevilla are the 21/20 favourites ahead of Sunday's game. Betis can be backed at 5/2, while the draw is available at 12/5.
Last season's game at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan ended 0-0, which is available at 9/1.
The first Seville derby took place in April 1929, with Sevilla winning 3-0 at the Estadio de Nervion in the Segunda Division. Real Betis got revenge two months later when they won 2-0 at the Estadio Benito Villamarin.
Overall, they have met 139 times competitively, with 65 wins for Sevilla, 40 for Betis and 34 draws, two of which occurred during the 2022/23 season.
The pair famously met in the Europa League's round of 16 in 2013/14. Both teams picked up 2-0 away wins before Sevilla won a penalty shootout 4-3 at the Benito Villamarin and went on to win the tournament.
Late Sevilla forward Jose Antonio Reyes is the fixture's record goalscorer in modern times, netting on five occasions.
Former Sevilla players Ramon Vazquez Garcia, Frederic Kanoute and Kevin Gameiro all scored four goals in El Gran Derbi, while Betis' record scorer is former midfielder Benat Etxebarria with three goals.
Only 10 players have represented both El Gran Derbi clubs.
Defender Joaquin Jimenez Postigo won La Liga with both clubs, while Betis' Isco became the latest player to represent the two teams when he joined Los Beticos in the summer of 2023. He had previously played for Sevilla during the first half of the 2022/23 season before departing the club by mutual consent in December 2022.
Spain's Euro 2008 winning manager Luis Aragones also has the distinction of having coached both clubs in El Gran Derbi.
