Check out Adam Catterall's prediction and best bet as heavyweight contenders Alexander Volkov and Rizvan Kuniev collide at UFC 333 in Abu Dhabi on Saturday.
Alexander Volkov by Decision or Technical Decision - 7/4
As 2026 draws to a close the UFC heavyweight division is in a state of flux.
After suffering a catastrophic eye injury in his first defence as undisputed champion Tom Aspinall was forced to vacate his title earlier this year, with Ciryl Gane now set to take on Josh Hokit for the vacant belt.
Gane seized his opportunity after Aspinall's injury by KO'ing Alex Pereira at the White House in June but ironically likely wouldn't even be in this position if the judges had ruled different back at UFC 310.
On that night in December 2024 the Frenchman was controversially awarded a split decision against Alexander Volkov. And while Gane has ascended to the top of the division, Volkov finds himself repeatedly taking on rising contenders.
On Saturday he faces dangerous finisher Rizvan Kuniev, but MMA expert Adam Catterall insisted Volkov has what it takes to keep his momentum going and continue his march towards a title shot.
"Volkov is the more well-rounded guy, he's the more seasoned guy and he's the more experienced guy." Catterall said.
"He's big, he's long, he's got a fantastic jab and he can grapple. Kuniev though there's something about him that just says wrecking machine.
"It would just be Volkov's luck to run into this guy and get knocked spark out when everybody including me are saying that he should've been in the title fight against Cyril Gane or a contenders fight against Alex Pereira.
"Logic would tell me that Volkov's going to win this fight, but this is the UFC and crazy things happen.
"Volkov on points."
