Alex Scott potential next club; midfielder rejects new Bournemouth deal

Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott has rejected a new contract with the Cherries.

The 22-year-old enjoyed a brilliant campaign last season and is the subject of interest from many of the Premier League's top clubs during this window.

Formerly of Bristol City, Scott has represented England at several youth levels and was named in the senior squad for the first time by Thomas Tuchel last November for games against Serbia and Albania but failed to make an appearance.

He travelled with Tuchel's squad to North America to aide England's World Cup preparations this summer whilst undergoing discussions with his club regarding a new deal, but reports from Sky Sports claim that he is not willing to agree new terms.

Scott's current Bournemouth contract expires in 2028 and the Cherries are likely to get a huge fee if they opt to sell during this window.

Alex Scott potential next club

Manchester United

It is no secret that, despite already announcing the signings of Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans, Manchester United require further reinforcements in the centre of midfield.

The Red Devils were brilliant under Michael Carrick last season but the additional fixtures brought on Champions League qualification mean that they will have to pad out their squad in order to sustain that level of performance.

Scott has been linked with a move to Old Trafford throughout 2026 and after missing out on Mateus Fernandes and talks for Ederson breaking down, United might try their luck with the Englishman.

Arsenal

In January it was reported that Bournemouth strongly rejected interest from Arsenal, telling the Gunners that Scott was not for sale this summer.

However, after today's reports, the Cherries might be forced to part with their prize asset.

Again, it's common knowledge that Mikel Arteta wants to bring in a central midfielder this summer. The Premier League champions have explored deals for both Bruno Guimaraes and Sandro Tonali to no avail in recent months.

Tonali has since moved to rivals Tottenham and Scott would cost roughly around the same as a move to secure Guimaraes from Newcastle.

Chelsea

There seems to be no limit to Chelsea's spending capabilities and it wouldn't come as a shock to anyone if they were to part with yet more funds for Scott.

One of the many Premier League clubs rumoured to have taken an interest in signing Scott, the opportunity to play under Xabi Alonso must be an intriguing prospect for any player across Europe.

The aforementioned sale of Andrey Santos to Manchester United and the uncertainty around the future of Enzo Fernandez does have the potential for a void in the heart of the midfield at Stamford Bridge; one that Scott has the capability to fill.
