Dan Evans had to dig deep to see off Karen Khachanov in the longest match in US Open history in round one but the Briton showed no ill effects in the second round, dismissing Mariano Navone in straight sets to tee up a clash with Alex de Minaur.
De Minaur, ranked 174 places above Evans in the ATP Tour rankings, has beaten Marcos Giron and Otto Virtanen to reach the third round at Flushing Meadows but despite his superior ranking he will be well aware of the threat posed by the Brit.
Alex de Minaur v Dan Evans is available to watch on bet365's Sports Live Streaming service and is also being broadcast on Sky Sports Tennis and Sky Sports Main Event.
Alex de Minaur v Dan Evans is expected to start at 00:00 BST on Sunday 1st September at Flushing Meadows in New York.
While Alex de Minaur is the more decorated performer, Dan Evans has won three of his four official meetings with the Australian including their most recent clash at last season's Davis Cup Finals.
Evans, who has always relished competing for Great Britain, also beat De Minaur in the ATP Cup in 2020 in his opponent's native Australia, backing up his success in the first ATP Tour-level meeting between the pair in Montreal in 2019.
De Minaur has not beaten Evans since triumphing 7-6 7-5 in a Challenger meeting on the Nottingham grass in 2018.
