Eight teams remain in the race for the AFL Grand Final as the regular season comes to a close.
Sydney Swans won their first AFL Minor Premiership since 2016 by thumping the Crows on the final day, reinforcing their favouritism in the market to go all the way and become Grand Final winners.
Their city rivals Greater Western Sydney have been installed as second favourites for the title, as they head into the finals as the in-form team, and with a top four spot, despite a closing day loss to the Bulldogs - their first in nine games.
Port Adelaide's second placed finish on the ladder is enough to see them remain as one of the favourites. They closed the season with a win and will remain after securing the top four finish.
Geelong managed to propel themselves into third over the closing weekends, despite a mid-season falter. They have had key players in Tom Stewart and Patrick Dangerfield back from injury and straight into good form, turning a slow attack and laborious midfield into one of the most dynamic sides in the second half of the season.
Of the teams outside of the top four, Brisbane will pose the biggest threat to the favourites, they remain above Geelong in the betting and looked certain to clinch top four until defeats to GWS and Collingwood halted the push. They overcame Essendon by a convincing 20 point margin on the final day to provide a boost in confidence prior to the finals.
Bulldogs, Hawthorn and Carlton all may fancy themselves as outsiders, but it is rare for a team that finished as far back as these to challenge for the Grand Final, with the draw making their run more difficult.
